My name is Ian, The London Tanner.
It is with great pleasure that I
welcome you to the new London Tanners website.
I am originally from England and have been living in the United States
since 1979.
I am a male Dominant and Top and have
been involved the lifestyle since my late teens.
A Master craftsman
leatherworker
and author of the book leatherwork (Blanford Pres1979).
I have been making high quality leather goods since 1971. Every single
item has been painstakingly hand crafted by myself. I take great pride
in my work and making sure you have the very best I can offer.
The London Tanners disciplinary items are used regularly in Videos and
movie productions by Real Spankings, Spankings Online, Spanking Source,
Shadow Lane, Fetish Flicks and many more.
We also supply many professional Dom's, Dommes, clubs and organizations
in fact anyone with discerning taste looking for the very highest
quality discipline instruments. Nothing would give us greater pleasure
than to see some of our work in your toy bag. The London Tanners imported British Harness Leathers are tanned with a
process of vegetable or oak bark tanning methods using many Tallows and
oils and waxes in the finish. This gives the leather a unique suppleness
and durability. This consistency is perfect for replicating the
authenticity of Victorian Leather Paddles, Tawses, Whips, Straps,
Strops, Spanking Belts, and Martinets. We work with hides anywhere
between 9-16 ounces
(3-6 mm) depending on the requirements. If it is a single thickness item
such as a Tawse, Ruler or Aunties Strap we will use a thick 12-16 oz
(5-6 mm) leather. If it is a double or triple layer item such as a
boudoir Paddle or spanking Strop where it is sewn together then an 8-14
oz (3-4 mm) leather is used The saddle stitching on all of our items is done by hand using a locking
saddle stitch at six stitches per inch. A six cord waxed linen and nylon
combination thread is used to give maximum strength.
All our edges are beveled and burnished to a glass smooth finish.
The reinforcements in handles are crafted using only leather;
no other foreign materials such as wood or metal are ever used.
A minimum of hardware and rivets provide accents only when necessary and
are of the highest quality available,
emphasizing primarily the rich full beauty and durability of the leather
itself. All of our work is individually hand crafted piece by piece to the
highest saddlery standards
as dictated by
the authentic established tradition of the old world masters.

We buy from some of the oldest tanneries in England. Our suppliers
include: Connerly Leathers (famous for their Rolls Royce upholstery
leather), Crogan Tanneries (the oldest oak bark tannery in the world),
Thomas and Sons (Beefeater Leather vegetable tan) and J & E Sedgewick
(famous for their saddlery leather). The London Tanners also uses top
quality leather from tanneries in Scotland, Australia and here in the
USA.
 The London Tanners searches throughout the world to find the exact
leather to recreate these fine reproduction punishment instruments in
our stock colors of
London Tan, Dark Havana Brown Rich Burgundy Red & Solid Black. "It is almost fading away in any case because of the difficulty in
obtaining the special leather.
It is now being manufactured principally for export:
