The French have always had a special romance with corporal punishment , Spanking and smacking the derriere. Here is a selection of items typically used by the French for punishment and pleasure. 
A little History on the Martinet.

Those inclined to accept the alleged Englishness of this particular vice may profitably contemplate the spectacle of the French nation (who originally made the allegation) methodically disciplining their children for over a hundred years with the martinet, a highly specialized instrument. Refined into its modern form by a Major Martinet, of the French military academy St. Cyr the equivalent of Sandhurst or West Point, who desired (apparently it was his life's work) to develop an implement suitable for punishment of officers cadets on their bare bottoms with logical consistency, it was taken up by many generations of French (and other European) parents and even achieved a fleeting popularity in America, though it has seldom been seen or used in the British Isles. For the English, it was probably not precise enough. Besides, they already had something much more effective of their own. This outstanding Tawse was copied from an original antique from Belgium It is a formidable piece consisting of six 9 by 1/2 inch long tails, two sets of three facing each. It has an eight inch shaped and built up handle perfect grip for a lady or man. 16 inches in length and 1.1/2 wide it is completely hand stitched. Made of 9-10 oz English Harness Leather marked with a saddlers crease line, all the edges are beveled and burnished to a smooth finish. This is a very elegant piece with that French flair and a good sting from sensual to severe.

The Masters Martinet Whip

The Masters Martinet Whip was used in French schools and homes up until the late 70s for the corporal punishment of unruly naughty boys and girls. This is a unique version of a typical martinet whip which sold in French hardware shops for many years. The Masters Martinet Whip is quite ornate and would have been used by the Master or Mistress of the chateau on the disobedient servant girls. It is made with fourteen 19 x 1/8 inch heavy oiled lashes attached to a 6 inch wooden handle with a nickel studded leather collar and nickel cap. The Masters Martinet Whip also has a nickel beaded wrist strap so as it may be hung as a deterrent for all those naughty boys and girls.

My Lady's Strap.

We have been asked by a lot of professional dominatrixes to make a strap specifically designed to for those with a more petite hand. After doing some research we found a French strap owned reportedly by the Mistress of the château here is an exact copy. This twin strap is made in 12-12 oz (4-5 mm) Imported British Harness Leather, It measures 16 inches in length and 1. 1/2 inches wide tapering down to a 1 inch reinforced and raised handle. With two tails it has an almost slapper effect. it has a 3/4 inch ring by which it hangs, is marked with a saddlers crease line and all the edges a beveled, burnished and finished to smooth.
This is a really pretty strap but do not let looks be deceiving it stings like the devil.
